Tribunal upholds Alimikhena’s, Edionwele’s elections
Edo State Election Petition Tribunal has upheld the election of Sen. Francis Alemikhena of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Edo North senatorial district.
It also upheld the election of Joe Edionwele of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Esan Central/Esan West/Igueben federal constituency in the House of Representatives.
PDP’s Abubakar Momoh had approached the court to declare him winner of the senatorial ballot on the grounds that Alimikhena was not qualified to contest the election, and, having contested, did not score majority of lawful votes.
The tribunal in its ruling held that the petitioner did not prove his petition beyond reasonable doubt and therefore dismissed it for lack of merit.
