Operatives of Ogun State Police Command in Ojodu–Abiodun Divisional Police station have arrested two pupils of Community Primary School, Isheri Olofin, Ojodu area of the state for setting school properties ablaze.
They are six-year-old Wahis Musa and seven-year-old Malik IIiasu.Spokesperson for Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the development, in a statement, said the incident was reported to the police by one of the community chiefs.
According to her, the duo gained access to one of the unlocked classrooms on the school premises and perpetuated the act. She said the two proceeded to gather books left behind by teachers and pupils of the school, and set them on fire.
Odutola said upon receiving the report, the anti-crime and detectives squad visited the scene, and brought the alleged children to the station for interrogation.
According to her, Ogun State Police Command will unravel those behind the act who may have instigated the youngsters, and update members of the public. She also disclosed that the police were making inquiries on how to contact their parents, as this was a case of clear malicious damage and arson.
