He gave the directive through the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Simon Ortuanya.

In the statement in Enugu, he advised returning civil servants to observe all Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) protocols for containment of the spread of coronavirus including washing of hand with soap under running water, use of alcohol-based hand sanitisers, compulsory use of face mask and physical distancing.

The Guardian recalled that following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the state government had directed all civil servants in the state to work from home since March 23, 2020, as part of measures to contain the spread of the virus.
