Ugwuanyi presents N166.62b 2023 budget to state assembly

Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, yesterday, presented, to the State House of Assembly, the 2023 budget estimates of N166.62 billion for consideration and approval.

Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, yesterday, presented, to the State House of Assembly, the 2023 budget estimates of N166.62 billion for consideration and approval.

Presenting the budget proposal, tagged: ‘Budget Of Consolidation And Transition,’ Ugwuanyi disclosed that the budget is 10.73 per cent lower than 2022 budget. 

He noted that out of the total budget size, the sum of N81.9 billion, representing 49 per cent of the total budget, is for recurrent expenditure, while the sum of N84.6 billion is for capital expenditure, representing 51 per cent of the budget.

The governor stated that key deliverables of the budget include, construction projects, as well as completion of ongoing rural and urban projects, rehabilitation of Oji Water Scheme, as well as urban reform water project. 

Other key deliveries of the budget are procurement of learning materials in basic education, among other projects. He said: “I thank the almighty God for given me the opportunity to serve the state, as I have been fair to all citizens of the state.”

Ugwuanyi appreciated the support accorded his administration in the last seven years, saying: “It’s a great experience working with Enugu House of Assembly members.”

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to executing developmental projects in the state, saying: “As we elect a new governor in 2023, it is our wish that the incoming government will consolidate on our achievements.”

Speaker of the House of Assembly,  Edward Ubosi, commended Ugwuanyi for his administration’s efforts in executing developmental projects since he assumed office.
