UNILAG PG school holds annual lecture August 14

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) School of Postgraduate Studies will host its 2025 Annual Lecture on Thursday, August 14.According to a statement signed by the Chairman of the Publicity Sub-Committee of the Annual Lecture, Dr. Tayo Popoola, the event, which will gather distinguished scholars, policymakers, industry leaders, and members of the university community to engage in critical discourse on the future of postgraduate education in Nigeria, will kick-off at 11.00am at the Tayo Aderinokun Hall of the university.

Themed, ‘Postgraduate Education: Setting Agenda for National Development’, the annual lecture aims to underscore the pivotal role advanced education plays in driving innovation, capacity building, and socio-economic progress.

The statement disclosed that it will feature former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Prof. Oladapo Afolabi, as the Guest Speaker, bringing his wealth of experience in governance and public administration to the discourse.

“Renowned business leader, Mr. Foluso Philips, who is the Chairman of Philips Consulting and past chair of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), will serve as Chairman of the event.

“The lecture will be hosted by the Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Abraham A.A. Osinubi, while the university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Folasade T. Ogunsola, will serve as Chief Host.

“The event underscores the university’s commitment to repositioning postgraduate education as a strategic tool for addressing Nigeria’s developmental challenges.

“Stakeholders from academia, government, the private sector, and the general public are invited to attend and contribute to the conversation on how postgraduate institutions can set a transformative agenda for national development,” it added.
