Unravel mystery behind 10 unidentified corpses, Edo govt tells police
Edo State Government, yesterday, asked the police to ascertain the cause of death of about 10 unidentified corpses found along Ibillo, Lampese road in Akoko-Edo Council of Edo State.
Addressing newsmen in Benin City, Edo State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, said the government was saddened by the incident and urged security agencies to unravel those behind the killing.
Nehikhare, who noted that those killed were without any marks on their bodies to trace how they were murdered, said the ages of the victims should be between 23 and 25 years.
The commissioner said the Obaseki-led government has ordered that autopsy be carried out on the corpses to determine the cause of death.
It was gathered that about 10 unidentified corpses were discovered by farmers on their way to farm around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday between Ibillo and Lampese.
Nehikhare also disclosed that the state government had arrested 10 land grabbers in the state and vowed that no land grabber would escape prosecution in the ongoing fight against land grabbing in the state.
According to him, illegal sale of land in Irhiri community and its environs in the state amounts to N1.5 billion.
He said victims of land grabbers would get some form of restitution soon.
