
Speaker, House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas has adjourned plenary until July 4 while also announcing the setting up of seven ad hoc committees that will assist the leadership pilot the affairs of the House pending the composition of standing committees.
The adjournment is to enable the national assembly leadership assign permanent sitting positions and offices to the lawmakers.
This followed a motion for adjournment moved at the plenary on Thursday former Deputy Speaker, Hon. Idris Wase.
Abbas said the composition of standing committees will be constituted when the house recovered in July.
Abbas said he and his Deputy Speaker, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, will chair the selection committee, with a lawmaker from 36 states and FCT as members.
The Internal Security Committee of the National Assembly will be chaired by Hon. Danjuma Hassan, while Media and Public Affairs Committee will be chaired by Hon. Abba Buka-Ibrahim with Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere as Deputy Chairman
While adjourning the House for three weeks, the Speaker said even though the House was supposed to adjourn for two weeks to allow members to rest, it has to adjourn for three weeks because of the Sallah holidays expected for the end of June.
