Use your vote to deliver Nigeria—PFN President
The National President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Francis Wale Oke, has urged Nigerians to vote wisely in order to deliver the country from the myriad of challenges plaguing the nation.
Oke made the call during the maiden convocation of the Precious Cornerstone University (PCU), Ola-Ogun, Ibadan, imploring Nigerians not to stay indoors on election days, but go out to vote, as they must use their votes to deliver Nigeria.
The PFN president, who was installed as the Chancellor of the university, lamented that the country was facing a challenging time.
Oke said: “You will agree with me that our nation is facing a challenging time at this period of our development. With the 2023 election around the corner, this is the time we need to sit down and come to common terms on those things that will be of help to us as a nation. We should selflessly decide on how best to save Nigeria from decay.
“As the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, my duty is not to tell you who to vote for during the next election, but to admonish you to wisely cast your vote, so that you can use your vote to deliver Nigeria.
“Do not stay indoors on the days of elections. You must go out to vote. Always remember your votes count and you can use it to deliver Nigeria.”
To the graduates, he said: “You are golden eagles. So, You must soar. The wind does not disturb the eagles from soaring. As a matter of fact, the eagle soars with the wind. You are spiritually and academically prepared to shine.”
The university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Julius Oloke, said that: “We are graduating 97 students today in seven academic programmes with eight graduating with first-class division.”
Many accomplished Nigerians, including Mr. Sijibomi Ogundele were given honorary doctorate degree awards. Ogundele, who was conferred Doctor of Entrepreneurship, urged the graduates to embrace diligence, integrity and excellence to make it in life.
The National Universities Commission (NUC)’s Director of Human Resources, Dr. Odum Boniface, lauded the strides of the university.
