Uzodinma, Ohakim, others to grace maiden Southeast media summit

Governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, and a former Governor of the state, Dr. Ikedi Ohakim, are among the prominent personalities and resource persons that would attend the maiden media summit in South Eastern Nigeria.
The summit, scheduled to hold in Owerri, the Imo State capital, on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, is organised by an Imo State-based media outfit, the Nigerian Horn Group of Newspapers, in collaboration with Southeast media practitioners.
In a release signed by the Chairman of the planning committee, Chief Kennedy Eweama, and made available to The Guardian, the organisers said, ” The Summit is expected to provide a veritable ground for the cross-pollination of ideas as they affect the prospects and challenges of the journalism profession vis-à-vis democratic governance in the geopolitical zone.”
Eweama further stated that notable Nigerians, who have distinguished themselves in various fields of human endeavour, would also be honoured at the event for their individual accomplishments, especially as they impacted socioeconomic and human development in the Southeast.
He said, “This Summit, with the theme ‘The Media, Ethical Responsibility, and Democracy: South East in Perspective,’ aims to also proffer ways the journalism practice can thrive without let or hindrance from government institutions while discharging its social responsibility obligations to society.”
He added that Uzodinma is the special guest of honour, while Ohakim, will be the keynote speaker at the summit.
Ohakim would lecture on the topic ‘Ndigbo and Media Digitalization in 21st Century Nigeria: The Way Forward.'”
He said, “The event will be chaired by a notable entrepreneur in the Oil and Gas industry, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ailes Group, Dr. Michael Onuoha (Eriri Ego), while Rockview Hotel, Owerri, serves as the venue for the historic event.”
