A year one student of the University of Jos has drowned during a swimming excursion in Lamingo Dam of Jos South Local Council of Plateau State.
The Guardian gathered that the swimming exercise was organised by Biology Education Student Association (BESA) of the institution.
On getting to the dam, the student, identified by his course mates as Elvis, reportedly jumped inside with others to catch fun, but never came out while others came out of the dam.
Rescue efforts by locals since Saturday to recover his body from the water have proved abortive.
