VFD partners Pearls Africa Foundation on girl-child empowerment

As part of its initiatives at serving its customers and empowering society through technology, the VFD Group is partnering Pearls Africa to encourage innovation and technology among young girls through the Girls Coding programme championed by Pearls Africa Foundation.

As part of its initiatives at serving its customers and empowering society through technology, the VFD Group is partnering Pearls Africa to encourage innovation and technology among young girls through the Girls Coding programme championed by Pearls Africa Foundation.

VFD’s Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications, Sylvia Henry-Tochukwu, said the partnership would be of mutual benefits to both parties, adding: “One of our core values at VFD Group is innovation and that is why we have continually invested in information technology by developing every of our applications in-house.

“What caught our attention is that the Founder, Abisoye Ajayi-Akinfolarin, is doing coding with young girls and we have decided to support these girls through technology as a part of our corporate social responsibility.

“It is a partnership that will see us work together to achieve common goals in the long-term.”Programme Manager, Mrs. Lillian Ijeoma Idowu, who represented Ajayi-Akinfolarin, said: “Girls Coding is the flagship project which is aimed at training girls between ages of seven and 17 from underserved communities digital literacy skills.”
