…Hails Remi Tinubu, Matawalle
The South-East Coordinator of the Tinubu Again Movement (TAM), Professor Chinedu Ochinanwata, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his economic reforms and commitment to national development, describing the transformation taking place in Enugu State under Governor Peter Mbah as evidence of the opportunities created by the administration’s policies. He also praised Governor Mbah for translating increased financial resources available to state governments into infrastructure and social development projects capable of improving the lives of residents.
Ochinanwata said the combination of federal economic reforms and the Enugu State Government’s development initiatives had created a new opportunity for the South-East to participate more actively in Nigeria’s economic transformation. He maintained that the projects being executed across the state demonstrated the importance of effective leadership, responsible management of public resources and cooperation between federal and state governments.
The TAM coordinator particularly commended the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her commitment to women’s economic empowerment and grassroots development. He described her interventions, including the distribution of business equipment and livelihood support to women, as practical efforts to promote entrepreneurship, strengthen household incomes and improve the economic participation of women.
Prof. Ochinawata noted that TAM mobilised over 3,000 of its members throughout the South East to be in Enugu to welcome the nation’s first lady, adding that the distribution of sewing machines, grinding machines, popcorn machines and bags of rice to beneficiaries across the South-East reflected an approach to empowerment that went beyond political speeches to provide tangible support to individuals and families. According to him, initiatives of this nature could help women establish small businesses, improve their livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to the economic development of their communities.
Speaking further, Ochinanwata highlighted the development initiatives of Governor Peter Mbah, particularly the establishment of Smart Green Schools and Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres across the state’s 260 electoral wards. He also cited ongoing federal road projects, including the Enugu-Port Harcourt and Enugu-Onitsha highways, as important infrastructure interventions with the potential to improve transportation, facilitate trade and strengthen economic connectivity across the South-East.
The professor, however, reserved special commendation for the Minister of State for Defence and National Convener of the Tinubu Again Movement, Dr. Bello Matawalle, whom he described as a leader with a clear understanding of the importance of grassroots mobilisation in political communication and national development.
He praised Matawalle for providing the leadership, direction and organisational support necessary to ensure that President Tinubu’s message, policies and achievements reach ordinary Nigerians, particularly those in communities across the South-East. He said the minister’s involvement in the movement had strengthened its mobilisation structure and encouraged greater engagement with stakeholders at different levels.
Ochinanwata noted that effective political mobilisation required more than organising rallies and issuing public statements. According to him, it demanded consistent engagement with community leaders, traditional institutions, youth organisations, women’s groups, professionals and other grassroots stakeholders who could communicate government policies in ways that ordinary citizens understand.
He further commended Matawalle for recognising the strategic importance of the South-East in national political engagement and for providing the platform through which TAM could expand its activities in the region. He said the minister’s leadership had continued to inspire members and coordinators to approach their responsibilities with commitment, discipline and a strong sense of purpose.
The South-East coordinator assured the national convener that the region’s mobilisation machinery was being strengthened and that all necessary efforts were in top gear to ensure that TAM effectively communicates the administration’s programmes and achievements across the five South-East states.
He disclosed that the movement had mapped out a comprehensive grassroots mobilisation strategy designed to establish an effective presence across the region, with particular emphasis on reaching communities and electoral wards. He said one of the movement’s major objectives was to ensure that it had representatives in every polling unit on election day, as part of its commitment to organised political participation and effective electoral engagement.
Ochinanwata explained that the existing TAM structure from polling-unit would complement ongoing mobilisation activities by strengthening communication, coordination and stakeholder engagement at the grassroots. He added that TAM was working towards building a structure that would enable it to reach eligible voters, provide information about the administration’s programmes and encourage lawful participation in the democratic process.
He expressed confidence in the commitment of TAM members and supporters across the South-East, assuring Matawalle that the zonal leadership would continue to work towards its stated objective of delivering substantial electoral support for President Tinubu in the region in 2027.
The coordinator also praised the Director-General of the Tinubu Again Movement Awwal Abdullahi for what he described as his dedication, organisational contributions and consistent efforts towards advancing the objectives of the movement. He said the DG’s commitment to coordination, institutional development and effective communication had been instrumental in sustaining the activities of TAM and strengthening its operational structure.
He maintained that the combined efforts of the national leadership, zonal coordinators, state structures and grassroots representatives would be important in building a functional movement capable of communicating government policies and engaging citizens across the country.
Ochinanwata further urged political stakeholders and residents of the South-East to assess the Tinubu administration through its policies, projects and interventions, noting that the region’s development interests should remain central to national conversations about economic recovery, infrastructure and inclusive governance.
He reiterated that TAM would continue to promote dialogue, public engagement and awareness of the administration’s programmes, while strengthening its organisational presence across the South-East ahead of the 2027 general election.
