We cannot shoot journalists, we value press – Police
The FCT Police Command has said that under no circumstances will their operatives fire a gun at newsmen.
Spokesperson of the command, SP Josephine Adeh, who made the disclosure, noted that the Commissioner of Police, Beneth Igwe, specifically directed that newsmen be protected throughout the protest.
She said, “I find it necessary to state that the police would never shoot at journalists. For what reason? Those covering us know how much we value our relationship with them.
“The CP FCT specifically ordered that journalists be protected during the ongoing protest. There is no way we would single them out and start attacking them.”
