He stated this at the final of the ministry badminton tournament organised by Command 31 Artillery Brigade, Military Cantonment, Minna, as part of activities to mark the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
Participants in the tourney include officers, soldiers and corps members, as well as civilians in the cantonment.
Jimoh, who was the special guest of honour, said the competition was for those still living but lost their body parts, and others that have left the army.
He urged soldiers to put in their best to protect life and property of Nigerians, as directed by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, who is working hard to ensure that all the resources required are provided to enhance the training and welfare of the soldiers.
“This is the time we should celebrate ourselves. Though we are occupied in all theatres of operation, the success of these operations in various duties is what we are celebrating today,” he said.
The General had earlier congratulated those that participated in the competition and urged those that could not make it to work harder.
Also, the Commander, Headquarters 31 Artillery Brigade, Brig-Gen. Hamidu Bobbo, noted that apart from celebrating the fallen heroes, the competition was put together not for professionals, but for all to come together for the Armed Forces Remembrance Day, celebrate the living, spend time together and get the best out of the game.
Hamidu explained that such games would be coming up, from time to time.
At the end of the competition, Team H emerged the overall winners, Team D came second and Team E took the third position.
Highlight of the competition was the presentation of medals to players and trophy to the winners, as well as group photographs.
