VICE presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Honourable Rotimi Amaechi has the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015 used women shields to fight and remove the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from power and urged women to. Mobilize and replicate the strategy in 2027.

Amaechi also described the ruling APC as “thieves” who must be taken out of power with help of women .

Underscoring the importance of women in politics at the ADC women conference in Abuja on Wednesday , the former Rivers state Governor said the fight for liberation of South Africa was largely done by women .

According to him:
“Women, you must be different from other party women. The fight for the liberation of South Africa was greatly done by women. The reason is, any time men came out, they will kill them.

“The South African whites, will kill them,but  if you bring out women and kill only two, the  international community will come out. So the struggle to take away these thieves from government is 90% dependent on our women.

“When we were in APC and we wanted to remove the  government, you saw what we did. We brought out the women, in every state we went to, women were in front.We spoke to them, we met with them at night, and we made sure that we told them that if they did not come out to vote, we would not win. And they came out. We fought the war, and we won.”

Amaechi continued,” at that  time, Nigeria was not as hungry as they are now. Nigeria could afford some food,  now, how many of you can afford the food? How many of you can pay school fees without texting, texting to Dino or somebody else to give you some money for school fees.”

The vice presidential candidate said in Nigeria of today ” every week, 10 Nigerians move into poverty. If they tell you how many Nigerians have died, you’ll be shocked. By the time I left government in APC, there were between 10 and 12 million  out of school children. I’m giving you figures now, 10 and 12 million out of school children. By the time I left government as minister, today there are 20 million out of school. That means every day Tinubu is taking  20 million Nigerians, 80% from the north, into poverty.

“If you are  a northern and you are  sitting here, you shouldn’t even be singing at all.” Reason
He further alleged that President Tinubu was taking Nigerians  into poverty on a daily basis .

“The thing you need to do is to take the battle in your hands. If all the women in the north come out to vote and stand there, three people cannot announce any result. If all the women, there are 92 million Nigerians that are illiterate, they can’t read all. They can’t read or write. Out of that 92 million, it is  80% again from the north.

“When we were in government under Buhari, it was less than 70. Today they are 92, twice the population of Canada, bigger than France. I’m not saying the Nigerian population. No, those are the population of illiterate Nigerians.

“Nigeria has different figures of population. Some say we are 230, some  we are 270. 30 million living Nigerians. So every day we sit here and think and we created two vibrant leagues: the women and the youth.

“This morning, we are experiencing what our campaign will look like. The women have taken the lead as national organizing secretary of my former party said. I worked very, very closely with the women, so I am  not in doubt that our women will be at the forefront to lead us to victory.

“Today, your program is very, very significant, which means you clearly understand what this campaign is all about. We are going straight from national to the polling unit. Abuja will be empty. Abuja will be zero. Everybody will go down to his local government, to his ward, to his polling unit to bring about the multiplier effect of bringing voters.

“It’s not just one to 10, but Immam has charged us that it has to be one to 100 and more. And from what we have seen today, it is possible you have electrified this campaign, and I thank you and I pray that this spirit will get down home.

“Be assured of my support. Be assured of the presidential campaign support. Be assured of the support of the party. Our presidential candidate and vice presidential candidates are gender-friendly leaders. We will not leave you alone. We will support you side by side. The journey to the villa has started, and we’ll get there by the special grace of God. Keep up the spirit, and when you look back, be rest assured that you will see us standing solidly behind you.

“The same for the youth. We are not here to play. We know that we will get to the villa, and your reaction clearly shows that because you are the first to be impacted by bad government. The women, the children, you suffer more, and I’m happy that in that spirit, you have reasoned to lead the charge to make sure that this present administration is decapitated and thrown out of the villa.”
