Kwara dep gov, wife test positive
President Muhammadu Buhari has assured that Nigeria, Africa and the world will overcome the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). This is just as he flagged off the distribution of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other medical supplies to 15 Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) countries to boost their COVID-19 response.
The Nigeria Air Force (NAF) will today begin airlift of the medical supplies. During the flag-off yesterday evening at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, Buhari noted COVID-19 as a ruthless common enemy; urging Africa to work together against it.
Represented by the chairman, Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, the president observed that the distribution of the consumables demonstrated good neighbourliness, solidarity and friendship.
SADLY, Kwara State Deputy Governor, Kayode Alabi, and his wife, Abieyuwa, have tested positive for the virus.
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor and spokesman of the state’s COVID-19 committee, Rafiu Ajakaye, disclosed in Ilorin yesterday that the couple was in high spirits and stable health condition.
The government’s medical team, which placed the couple on strict medicare, has embarked on contact tracing of persons who recently had contact with the duo.
Ajakaye’s words: “On August 3, 2020, the deputy governor and chairman of the Kwara State Technical Committee, Kayode Alabi; and his wife, Abieyuwa, underwent COVID-19 test after they showed slight symptoms of the virus. The results of their test are positive.” in the past few days.”
