The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has identified overreliance on fossil fuel as the reason Nigeria is unable to generate enough electricity.

Chairman, Conference Planning Committee of the NSE, Etido Inyang, stated this, yesterday, in Abuja, while speaking at the NSE 2021 National Engineering Conference and Annual General Meeting.

He said the challenge of meeting the growing energy demand in Nigeria is huge. He noted that in seeking sustainable energy supply and making energy choices, environmental problems of fossil fuel need to be considered.

“The way forward, therefore, in achieving energy availability, economic growth and sustainability are to timeously turn serious attention to adopting a more viable way of expanding the energy mix of our country.”
