A non-partisan organisation for women in Nigeria, Women in Politics Forum (WIPF), has decried delay in the announcement of the governorship election results in Adamawa State, alleging that the results are being manipulated and mandate about to be stolen in a broad daylight.

President of the forum, Ebere Ifendu, in a statement, alleged gross misconduct and manipulation at the Adamawa State governorship election results collation centre following the refusal of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Hudu Yunusa, to collate results from Fufore Local Council.

Efendu said that results from 20 local councils had been collated, giving the APC gubernatorial candidate, Senator Aishatu Binani, an early lead, saying that the last result pending is from Fufore council, which has generated hot controversy.

She, therefore, called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure that the results are not manipulated and Binani is given her mandate and declared winner of the election.

She also urged the security agencies to be more effective in protecting the public against attacks by political thugs.
