The United States has moved to deport 10 Nigerians who have been listed among suspected criminal offenders as the country intensifies its immigration crackdown.

The individuals were named and pictured on a register maintained by the US Department of Homeland Security, with authorities describing those featured as among the “worst of the worst” criminal offenders.

The move is part of President Donald Trump’s broader push to remove undocumented immigrants and foreigners accused of serious offences from the country.

The allegations against the Nigerians include wire fraud, identity theft, sexual offences, drug-related offences, child cruelty, conspiracy and aggravated assault.

And this is not the first time Nigerians have appeared on the US register.

In February, 79 Nigerians were listed, while the figure reportedly rose to 124 by July.

The latest additions have therefore renewed concerns over the growing number of Nigerians caught up in US immigration enforcement drive.

The US authorities have not, however, disclosed when the 10 Nigerians will be deported.

The development comes amid a wider tightening of immigration enforcement in the US, with authorities also revoking thousands of visas over alleged violations, criminal conduct and other concerns.
