No fewer than 384 youths from various institutions in both Lagos and Ogun states participated in the just concluded Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), which was held at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) camp, Iyana Ipaja, Lagos.

The youths were treated to a week of drills and lectures from guest speakers and skills/vocational facilitators, who spoke on the theme: ‘Tomorrow’s leaders begin with today’s opportunities.”

At the closing ceremony, the wife of the Ogun State Governor, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun, who was represented by Mrs Olamide Lawal, encouraged the youths to cherish and rightly apply all they were taught bordering on leadership qualities to turn out into responsible and successful leaders.

The District-Governor, Rotary International, District 9110, Bola Oyebade, congratulated the participants for the opportunity given to them to be at the event and expressed the certainty that they would not remain the same again, as they have been exposed to training that would unleash the potential in them for greatness.

Oyebade described RYLA, which started 35 years ago, as a Rotary International Leadership and Citizenship Development programme that is coordinated and organized by Rotary Clubs around the world for young men and women within the age of 14 and 25.
