Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf

Zamfara State government has sponsored the mass wedding of over 100 couples drawn from vulnerable groups across 14 local councils.

Speaking at the occasion, Governor Dauda Lawal, who was represented by his deputy, Mani Malam Mumini Masamar Mudi, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to supporting vulnerable citizens.

The governor, who also served as the father of each groom, stated that his government provided all dowry payments of N200,000 for each groom. In addition, each bride received N50,000 to support small-scale trading activities in their matrimonial home.

He also presented marriage certificates and household items to the couples.

The governor urged them to respect one another and advised the brides to be obedient to their husbands, emphasising the importance of fostering harmony and attracting Allah’s blessings in their marriages.

SIMILARLY, the Kano State government has confirmed concluding arrangements to conduct a mass wedding for 1,500 lovers under its marriage social welfare initiative popularly known as ‘Auren Gata’.

The deputy commander-general of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Mujahideen Aminudeen, disclosed this in Kano yesterday.

Aminudeen said that the initiative, implemented under the leadership of Governor Abba Yusuf, was part of efforts to support vulnerable members of society.

He explained that the decision to organise the mass wedding followed the successes recorded in the previous exercises.

According to him, the positive outcomes of earlier programmes encouraged the government to commit more resources to sustain the initiative.

He added that the governor had directed that all necessary arrangements for the exercise be concluded before the end of May.

The charges are brought under provisions of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Amendment Act, 2024, the Nigerian Communications Act, 2003, and relevant statutory instruments on the protection of critical national infrastructure.
