Zulum appoints Bunu Bukar as new Accountant General

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, has ratified the appointment of Alhaji Bunu Bukar FCNA as the new Accountant General of the State.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Dauda Iliya, on Tuesday.

The appointment, which takes effect from 8th May, 2025, will see Bukar take over from the current Accountant General, Bura Usman, who is due to retire on 8th May.

With over 16 years of experience in the banking sector and 13 years in public service, Bukar is expected to bring his wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new position.
In his words, Zulum tasked the newly appointed Accountant General to apply his extensive experience in upholding the principles of professionalism, transparency, financial integrity, and accountability in the discharge of his duties.

Zulum also showered encomium on the outgoing Accountant General, Usman, for his meritorious service and contributions to the development of the state and the administration, stressing that his selfless service toward the state won’t be forgotten.

Bukar holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in finance, as well as a postgraduate diploma in accountancy, among other academic and professional qualifications.
