Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has inaugurated the Alpha Mechanic Village (ALMV) with the disbursement of N305.2 million grants and loans.
The village, on Damboa Road, will accommodate 4,250 automobile mechanics and related artisans. While commissioning the facility, yesterday, the governor disclosed: “This signifies a historic turning point in our quest to develop the state that was hit by 12-year Boko Haram terrorism.”
According to him, the disbursement of grants and loans will create more jobs and enhance productivity among youths. He added that four more mechanic villages would be built along Dikwa, Bama, Monguno and Damaturu roads.
The Managing Director of the state’s microfinance bank, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, disclosed: “Today, over N2.5 billion has been disbursed to 32,000 Small and Medium-scale Enterprises across the state in the last two years. The fund excludes the N305.2 million disbursed to 4,250 automobile technicians and other vehicle repairers.”
