Aisha Buhari’s complaint against Garba Shehu
Sir: Permit me to think aloud on the widely-reported complaints made against Mr. Garba Shehu, special assistant (SA) to President Muhammadu Buhari (PMB) by the wife of the president, Aisha. When the respectable woman made this complaint against Shehu with some serious allegations, I thought that the special assistant to the president would honourably resign, so as to protect his personal values with discretionary flavour. But unfortunately, Shehu still continues in the saddle not minding the implications of the discontentment expressed publicly by the wife of the President.
It is rational to think that if the wife of one’s boss complains against one it is expected that the aide should have stepped aside in order not to upset matrimonial relationships. It is therefore surprising that Shehu does not see any rationale for promoting the well-being of the presidential family by quitting immediately the complaint was made public.
Finally, if Buhari is silent about the complaint, Shehu should not take the presidential silence for granted as this may mean that the matrimonial influence of the honest wife of the President is undermined. Any press statements allegedly made by Shehu after the woman’s complaint, will be doubted by the intelligent public, as being the voice of Jacob but the hand of Esau. And this may not be in presidential and national interest.
Shehu should honourably resign. God bless Nigeria.
