A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ekiti State, Dr Funso Ayeni has has emerged as the candidate for North Senatorial district of the state.
Dr Ayeni who emerged as senatorial candidate of ADC unopposed at the weekend, addressed party stakeholders in Okeijebu area of the Ikole Local government of the state.
He said his intention for contesting the senatorial seat in Ekiti North was to represent the people effectively, as the incumbent Senator hasn’t done enough for the people.
Ayeni added that his Ikole local government has never had a stint of the senatorial seat, noting that the area had been marginalised, vowing to break to break the jinx
“Let me tell you, Ikole people had been yarning for adequate representation and I’m here to give it to them, I’m not a baby when it comes to representing the people, I’m here for you, my Ikole people, ole vote for me and I will not disappoint you” he stated
Ayeni promised to initiate bills that would cater for the needs of the people in his constituency, while also empowering youths in the area.
The ADC senatorial candidate explained that, his experience as an entrepreneur and philanthropist would work for him.
“I’m a grassroot politician, I have been with my people, I know what they want and need, I promise you, I will be there for you come rain, come shine, I’m here to serve you, send me to the senate, I will represent you well,” he added.
Ayeni was earlier received by huge crowd of supporters in Ikole where they acknowledging his contribution to the development of the community, promising to support his ambition.
In their remarks, the party chairman in Ikole Local government, Mr Olaiya Oluwasanjo and a member of the party, Mr Jackson Adebayo urged the people to vote Dr Funso Ayeni for the better representation of the Senatorial district at the National Assembly.
