The Nigeria Democratic Congress candidate for the Ogun Central Senatorial District, Dr. Rotimi George-Taylor, has called on the African Action Congress presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, to align with the NDC’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in a united effort to unseat President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections.

He equally questioned the sincerity of the human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, on his desire for a better Nigeria following his series of verbal attacks on Obi that he was not politically relevance and would not support the NDC presidential candidate in the 2027 election.

George-Taylor, who spoke at the party’s Secretariat in Ijemo-Agbadu called on the AAC presidential candidate to align with Obi, arguing that the NDC presidential candidate rising political popularity offers the strongest chance of defeating Tinubu in the forthcoming election.

He stated that the APC-led administration’s failure at both the federal and state levels to address hunger, insecurity, and economic hardship has created an opportunity for the two politicians to unite, capitalize on the government’s shortcomings, and challenge President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

George-Taylor said “I think he will be better doing that because he is a lot younger to Peter Obi and I don’t see the reason why they should be on opposing camps. The lawyer friend of his, Adeyanju that is always talking against Peter Obi sometimes I look at it and said is this an activist or has he changed side.

“You wonder how a house divide against itself could find it difficult to stand and I think it is the right thing for him to support Obi and by the time he grows older and if he can’t contest this one or if he contest this one and he is not so lucky, he will also have the support of Peter Obi if he supports him at that time.”

“So, I will advice him to supports him because right time if he has that leverage like Peter Obi I would advise Peter Obi to support him but presently Peter Obi is the man of the moment and I believe that the only right thing is to follow the people’s choice.” he added.

George-Taylor divulged that he resigned as the Deputy National Financial Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to join the NDC, explaining that he was inspired by Obi’s vision, which he believes presents Nigerians with a credible alternative driven by the country’s best interests.

He argued that Peter Obi remains a highly marketable presidential candidate, pointing to the widespread grassroots support the former Labour Party presidential candidate enjoyed during the 2023 general election.

George-Taylor further described Obi as a credible leader with a strong public image, who many Nigerians have little negative to say about, urging them particularly those in the South-West, to reject tribal politics and instead support leaders with the competence and vision to address the country’s socio-economic challenges.
