A political group, Youth Forward Initiative (FYI) has declared its support for the re-election bid of former governor Mohammad Abdullahi Abubakar (SAN) in 2027, saying that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is an experienced politician.

The group in a press statement on Friday, said that the former governor, who led the state between 2015 and 2019 was prudent and walked a tight rope of the economic meltdown while keeping the administration running amidst dwindled resources.

The leader of the group, Garba Musa, highlighted some reasons the state electorate should queue behind Abubakar for development of Bauchi State.

He explained that: “Leadership is not an experiment. M. A. Abubakar has previously served as Governor of Bauchi State and possesses practical knowledge of governance, public administration, policy implementation, and resource management. At a time when Bauchi State requires tested leadership, we believe experience remains a valuable asset.

“His administration governed during one of the most difficult economic periods in Nigeria’s history. Despite recession, declining federal allocations, inflation, and inherited liabilities, government institutions continued to function and public resources were managed with caution and responsibility.

“We believe Bauchi State deserves leaders who understand the value of public funds and the importance of financial discipline,” he said.

According to Musa, Abubakar demonstrated commitment to institutional governance and due process. He said that his administration introduced reforms aimed at strengthening government institutions and reducing waste.

“As young people, we seek leadership that can create opportunities, attract investment, support entrepreneurship, and expand economic opportunities for the next generation.

“We believe his experience and network position him to engage development partners, investors, and stakeholders capable of supporting youth-focused programmes,” he added.
