A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, has described the massive turnout at the party’s presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna as a demonstration of the North-West’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kwankwaso, who spoke to journalists on the sidelines of the VIP Pavilion at the rally, said the gathering had sent a strong political message about the region’s preferred candidate, expressing confidence that Tinubu would secure another term in office.
He maintained that the turnout at the Kaduna event reflected the commitment of Tinubu’s supporters in the North-West and dismissed suggestions that the region remained undecided about the presidential contest.
“Today, we of the North-West geopolitical zone have spoken loud and clear on who we stand for. Our choice of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains our commitment to a better Nigeria and national cohesion,” Kwankwaso said.
According to him, the rally was significant not only for its political mobilisation but also for what he described as an opportunity to strengthen national unity and promote balanced development across the six geopolitical zones.
He argued that Tinubu’s administration represented an opportunity to advance equitable resource distribution and ensure that the different regions benefited fairly from the country’s development efforts.
“Tinubu’s presidency stands for fair and equitable distribution of resources to all zones, and his return will be a blessing to the greater Nigeria of our dream,” he said.
Kwankwaso also rejected the suggestion that northern support for Tinubu was driven solely by political calculations, insisting that the region should remain committed to its political position as the 2027 elections approach.
He described Tinubu as the North’s candidate and expressed confidence that the region would translate its support into votes at the polls.
“Asiwaju is the northern candidate, and he will not promote anything outside his ambition because we are trustworthy people, and we shall deliver him come 2027,” he declared.
The APC campaign council member urged political stakeholders across the country to prioritise national cohesion and collective progress over narrow political interests.
He said the Kaduna rally had demonstrated the enthusiasm of Tinubu’s supporters in the North-West, adding that sustained mobilisation would be necessary to consolidate the President’s support base ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
