2027: Rhodes-Vivour urges opposition parties’ coalition to unseat APC in Lagos

Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour

The 2023 gubernatorial standard bearer of the Labour Party (LP) in Lagos, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV), has called for a coalition of political parties to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Rhodes-Vivour made the call on Thursday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he declared his intention to join the 2027 governorship race in Lagos.

According to GRV, he will contest again, but under a coalition of political parties, saying it would be a waste of time for opposition parties to contest separately.

“By God’s grace, yes,” Rhodes-Vivour confirmed when asked if he would join the 2027 governorship race in Lagos State.

“I believe that if all parties do not come together, it is going to be a waste of time running in 2027 because there is a full state capture happening in this country now.

“We cannot afford for the opposition to be separate. For now, my job is to ensure that I have a strong party, Labour Party.”

Rhodes-Vivour contested the Lagos State governorship election in 2023 under the LP but lost to the incumbent, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, of the APC.
