The Tijaniyya Islamic sect in Kano has declared the support of the group for the re-election of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in the 2027 general election.
The Islamic set under the special leadership of Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhamnadu Sanusi II said the resolution to support Governor Yusuf’s second-term in office was in recognition of his commitment to good governance, promotion of Islamic values, and people-oriented policies.
Declaring the support of the group Friday evening during its annual Zikr and National prayers organised by the Sect at the Emir’s Palace Kano, Chairman of the Shura Council of the Tijjaniyya Sect, Sheikh Sani Shehu Maihula, submitted that returning Yusuf for the second term is a mandate.
According to Sheikh Maihunla, Tijjaniyya Shura Council unanimously endorsed Governor Yusuf for his continued support to religious activities, education, healthcare, infrastructure development and social welfare programmes across Kano State.
Emir of Kano, Khalifah Mohammad Sanusi II recalled the role of the Tijaniyya Islamic sect during the 2023 general election the led to the emergence of Governor Yusuf as Governor.
The first class monarch revealed how he mobilize support to vote Governor Yusuf in 2023 without demanding any favour in return, however urged the Governor to constantly sustain the affinity the existing between him and the Tijaniyya set.
Emir Sanusi who affirmed the impact of good governance and improved social infrastructure in Kano, urged the government to sustain efforts in making life better for residence.
Responding, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of the Tijjaniyya Shura Council for their prayers, confidence and endorsement.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to serving the people of Kano with sincerity, justice and fear of Allah, pledging to sustain policies and programmes that’s improve the lives of citizens.
He also thanked religious leaders across the state for their unwavering prayers and guidance, describing them as critical partners in promoting peace, unity and development in Kano State.
The Emir had earlier led thousands of Tijaniyya adhere to annual prayers and special national prayers where various invited Islamic scholars including the grandson Algeria and Senegal based Tijaniyya sets sought for peace, tranquility against the insecurity ravaging the national.
