AAC inaugurates Sowore–Magashi 2027 presidential campaign council

Omoyele Sowore

The African Action Congress (AAC) has inaugurated the Sowore–Magashi 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, intensifying its preparations for the 2027 presidential election with a nationwide mobilisation structure spanning the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The party said the council would coordinate political strategists, organisers, policy advocates, media professionals, digital campaigners, election specialists, legal practitioners and grassroots mobilisers to strengthen its campaign ahead of the election.

In a statement dated October 9, 2026, and signed its Acting National Chairman, Samuel Ajeigbe, and National Secretary, Oshiokhue Phillip Ikpeminoghena, the AAC said the inauguration marked a major step in its efforts to mobilise Nigerians and expand the reach of the campaign across the country.

The campaign council will be led by Abdullahi Usman as Director-General, supported by deputies responsible for Strategy and Political Affairs, and Diaspora and Resource Mobilisation. Juwon Sanyaolu will serve as the Campaign Council Secretary.

According to the statement, the structure will extend to the grassroots through state, local government area, ward and polling-unit coordinators, supported by volunteers, canvassers, polling agents and supporters.

The AAC said the arrangement was designed to establish a nationwide network capable of coordinating campaign activities and reaching voters across different communities.

The party also acknowledged the role of the SOWORENOW application in supporting the campaign’s existing mobilisation efforts.

It described the platform as an important digital tool for organising supporters and coordinating activities, stressing that the newly inaugurated council would complement rather than replace the application.

“The Presidential Campaign Council is not a replacement for this digital mobilisation infrastructure; rather, it is designed to upscale, deepen and expand it,” the statement said.

The party explained that the campaign would combine technology with physical grassroots organisation, political coordination and community-level mobilisation to extend the Sowore–Magashi campaign’s reach across Nigeria.

On its political message, the AAC said the 2027 election represented more than a change in the occupant of the presidency, arguing that it should also provide an opportunity to change the country’s political direction.

“This AAC is clear about the historic task before us. The 2027 election is not merely about changing the occupant of Aso Rock; it is about changing the political direction of Nigeria,” the statement said.

The party added that it intended to take its message directly to Nigerians in urban centres and rural communities, including state capitals and polling units.

It described the inauguration as the beginning of intensified nationwide mobilisation and called on Nigerians who believe the country could achieve a different political future to participate in the campaign.

“The task of taking back our country cannot be left to politicians alone; it requires the active participation of the People,” the statement said.
