The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State has officially kicked off its campaign for the local government elections slated for October 5, 2024.

The launch event took place at the Uyo Township Stadium, where party flags were presented to the 31 chairmanship candidates.

Governor Umo Eno congratulated the candidates on their nomination and urged them to focus on issue-based campaigns free from bitterness, violence, and mudslinging.

He expressed confidence that his administration’s accomplishments would support their efforts and stressed the importance of accountability, transparency, and rural development in their campaigns.

Eno also assured the candidates of continued collaboration with the third tier of government.

State PDP Chairman Elder Aniekan Akpan praised the governor for his strong leadership and solid foundation for the party’s campaign.

He expressed confidence in the party’s readiness for the upcoming elections and reiterated that the PDP remains the preferred choice for voters.

The deputy governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, and political leaders from Ikot Ekpene, Uyo, and Eket Senatorial districts also commended the governor’s leadership and the party’s inclusive approach.

Dr. Uwemedimo Udo, the chairmanship candidate for Uyo Local Government Area, responded on behalf of the 31 candidates, expressing gratitude to the governor and PDP. He promised that their campaigns would remain focused on issues.
