Last week, the faction conducted primaries and declared the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Usani APC’s governorship candidate in the state.
But in a reaction, Mr. Ali Magashi, Chairman of APC Primary Elections Committee, sent by the NWC to conduct the primary in the state, said there was no parallel governorship primary, describing such as illegal.
Magashi told The Guardian in Calabar at the weekend: “We know the rule of law. Our party has a constitution and a process. To say there was a parallel primary is a misnomer.
There was only one primary by law. It was the primary carried out by the committee I led.
We are the legal representatives of our party’s National Working Committee. So, anybody that goes outside to do any illegality, the party does not recognise such.”
He said Owan-Enoh’s emergence as the governorship candidate was among the first to be accepted by his party’s NWC.
