…Adekanmbi to emerge as consensus candidate
The Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) has concluded arrangements to hold its governorship primary election in Oyo State on Thursday as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
The primary election and affirmation exercise are scheduled to hold at the Watershed Event Centre, Ibadan, with party faithful, stakeholders and supporters expected to attend from across the state.
The exercise will also feature primary elections for candidates seeking tickets into the Senate, House of Representatives and Oyo State House of Assembly across the state’s senatorial districts, federal constituencies and state constituencies.
A chieftain of the party, Bimbo Adekanmbi, will emerge as the consensus governorship candidate of the APM ahead of the exercise.
Party officials said the primary election is part of efforts to consolidate the party’s structure and strengthen its political relevance ahead of the next electoral cycle in the state.
The event is also expected to attract prominent political figures and observers within and outside Oyo State.
According to party sources, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State is expected at the gathering, a development that has generated discussions among political stakeholders and supporters of the party.
Supporters of Adekanmbi described him as a leader with the experience, vision and capacity required to advance the development of the state.
The party reiterated its commitment to credible leadership, inclusive governance and policies aimed at improving the welfare of residents across Oyo State.
