Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State have unanimously endorsed the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Salihu Yakubu Danladi, as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 election, reaffirmed their loyalty to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The endorsement was made at a stakeholders’ meeting attended by party executives, elders, elected representatives, political appointees, and other influential figures across the local government.
The gathering also dismissed allegations by some aggrieved party members that the APC governorship primary election was manipulated, insisting that the exercise was conducted in line with the party’s constitution and established guidelines.
Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, Chairman of the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof. Raheem Adaramaja described the May 22, 2026 governorship primary as credible, transparent, and widely accepted by party members.
According to him, the exercise was conducted under the supervision of the APC Primary Election Committee headed by Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, with voting, collation and announcement of results carried out openly in the presence of party members, security agencies, electoral officials and independent observers.
He said attempts to discredit the process were misleading and capable of creating unnecessary divisions within the party at a time. Unity and cohesion were needed ahead of future elections.
Adaramaja maintained that Danladi possesses the experience, competence and grassroots appeal required to lead the APC to victory in the 2027 governorship election, adding that the Speaker enjoys widespread support across the 16 local government areas of the state.
“The emergence of Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi reflects the collective wishes and aspirations of party faithful across Asa Local Government and Kwara State,” he stated.
The stakeholders further passed a vote of confidence on Governor AbdulRazaq, commending his administration’s performance in infrastructure development, education, healthcare delivery, water supply, and human capital development.
They also pledged unwavering support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid and all APC candidates in future elections.
In his remarks, the member representing Afon Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Yunusa Oniboki said he personally monitored the governorship primary election in his constituency and could attest to the credibility and transparency of the process.
He noted that Danladi’s growing popularity across the state was evident in the support he continues to receive from party members and residents.
Also speaking, the chairman of the Kwara State Civil Service Commission, Hajia Habibat Yusuf, urged party members to close ranks and work together in the overall interest of the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Similarly, Engr. Musa Ayinla Yeketi called on party faithful to respect the decisions of the party leadership and embrace internal mechanisms for resolving grievances.
He advised aggrieved members against taking disputes to the media, stressing that dialogue, reconciliation, and party discipline remain critical to the APC’s continued success.
The meeting ended with a renewed commitment by APC stakeholders in Asa Local Government to support Danladi’s governorship aspiration and work towards strengthening the party’s dominance in Kwara State ahead of the 2027 polls.
