Gov lauds NAF for dedicated anti-terrorism fight
Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has played host to his immediate predecessor and Senator representing Niger North, Abubakar Sani Bello, and the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, at his official residence in Government House, Minna.
A statement issued to newsmen in Minna by the governor’s spokesman, Bologi Ibrahim, said the visit was to strengthen solidarity and support among the political gladiators.
The statement noted that the governor appreciated the visit, saying it is a demonstration of love and a reflection of togetherness. They all stressed the need to work assiduously for the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at all levels and for the betterment of the state and its people.
BUT Bago has acknowledged the Nigerian Air Force’s critical role in counterinsurgency and anti-banditry operations under Operation Fansan Yamma across the state.
Represented by the Commissioner for Homeland Security, Maurice Bello Magaji, the governor made the commendation while speaking as Special Guest of Honour at the 2025 Base Socio-Cultural Activities (BASA), held at the Nigerian Air Force Base, Minna.He also praised NAF personnel for their dedication to combating insecurity and insurgency.
Bago further commended the force for its professionalism and sacrifices in safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity and national security, particularly in Niger State.
He expressed appreciation to the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal SK Aneke, for his leadership and for combining the event with a parley with NAF veterans, describing the initiative as a platform to honour their sacrifices.
Bago congratulated the Commander, 013 Quick Response Force, Nigerian Air Force Base Minna, Group Captain Kehinde Orobola Akinyosade and the entire B community on the successful hosting of the 2025 BASA, and prayed for continued peace and progress in Niger State and Nigeria at large.
In his keynote address, Akinyosade stated that the 2025 BASA marked the close of the operational year and provided an avenue to strengthen unity, cultural identity, and esprit de corps within the NAF community.
