A chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Bayelsa State, Dr Moses Oruaze Dickson, has hailed the smooth conduct of the party’s national convention in Abuja, describing it as peaceful, successful and a clear indication that the party is prepared for the 2027 general elections.

Speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the convention held in Abuja, Dr Dickson said the orderly and transparent process reflected the maturity, unity and internal democratic culture of the party.

According to him, the NDC had consistently demonstrated its commitment to democratic principles through the successful conduct of its ward, local government, state and zonal congresses, which culminated in the national convention.

Dr Dickson commended leaders and stakeholders of the party for what he described as their collective sacrifice, commitment and tireless efforts in building a formidable political platform capable of addressing the aspirations of Nigerians.

He urged party faithful to remain steadfast, focused and committed to the vision of the party, stressing that unity would remain critical to the party’s success in future elections.

The NDC stalwart, who is also a leading aspirant for the Sagbama Constituency One seat in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, said the growing popularity and influence of the party across the country was a reflection of its increasing acceptance among Nigerians.

He noted that many Nigerians had continued to identify with the ideals of the party because of what he called its commitment to justice, equity and national development.

He also paid glowing tribute to the national leader of the party, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, describing him as a living legend, a political icon and a statesman whose leadership qualities had continued to inspire many young politicians across the country.

According to him, the former Bayelsa governor had remained consistent in promoting democratic values, peace and inclusive leadership.

While calling on members of the party to remain peaceful and law-abiding, he also urged them to sustain the dedication and passion in ensuring that the forthcoming primaries also record huge success.

“The high level of enthusiasm, unity and confidence among party members showed that the NDC was steadily positioning itself as a strong force in Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of 2027.

“The peaceful conduct of this convention is a strong reflection of the stability, discipline and democratic ideals of our party. From the ward congresses up to this national convention, the NDC has shown that it is organised, united and fully prepared for the 2027 elections,” he said.
