Borno, Nasarawa APC endorse Zulum, Sule

The Borno State All Progressives Congress (APC) has endorsed Professor Babagana Umara Zulum to contest the 2019 governorship position in the state. Zulum, who was endorsed by Governor Kashim Shettima to succeed him, emerged the party’s flag bearer by scoring 4,432 votes at the primary election.

A total of 5, 012 delegates from 27 local councils participated in the poll to elect the governorship candidate at the El-Kanemi Warriors Stadium in Maiduguri, the state capital.Announcing results of election yesterday, Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Ahmed Elmanzuk, said Prof. Zulum was returned as the APC gubernatorial candidate with the highest votes of 4,432.

“Prof. Zulum polled the highest number of votes cast, while Idris Durkwa trailed at second position by scoring 114 votes,” he said, noting that 317 votes were rendered invalid.

Meanwhile, Abdullahi Sule has emerged winner of the Nasarawa State governorship primaries in a keenly contested election. Sule, a former managing director with the Dangote Group and the preferred candidate of governor Umàru Tanko Almakura, contested the primaries with 10 other contestants, among whom is Deputy Governor, Ali Agara.

Declaring the results, Secretary of the Electoral Committee, Abdullahi Candido affirmed that Sule, having scored 926 votes being the highest, was declared winner of the election.In his reaction, Sule thanked the delegates for their support and assured the people that he will not disappoint the state in delivering quality leadership in the state if elected governor next year.
