The immediate past national president of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Rev. Dr. Felix Omobude, on Thursday, urged the people of Edo State to make good use of the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state by voting for the right person as governor.

In a short live broadcast to the people of the state, Rev. Omobude, who is the General Superintendent of New Covenant Gospel Church with headquarters in Benin City, noted that democracy offers people the opportunity to participate in the process of choosing who governs them, saying that such an opportunity is right now on the doorsteps of the people of the state.

Addressing the entire Edo people, with particular reference to the Faith (Christian) community, the revered man of God reminded the people that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) does not count prayer points but votes.

He enjoined the people to use their PVCs to actively participate in the opportunity democracy offers them to elect the leader of their choice, urging them to use the period to show the entire world that Edo people are knowledgeable and politically enlightened and never give room for political intimidation from the godfathers.

He also advised the people to vet the track records of the contestants and vote based on their profiles and credibility.

The clergyman prayed for peace and tranquillity before, during, and after the governorship election in the state.

Omobude, during the broadcast, said, “My dear good people of Edo State, I greet you all wherever you are. Democracy offers us the opportunity to participate in the process of choosing who governs us. Such an opportunity is right at our doorstep, and I know especially our faith community is praying for good governance; we have been praying for progress, and we have been praying for peace.

“And this is applauded, but unfortunately, INEC does not count prayers; INEC counts votes. If you don’t have a voter’s card and you have not registered, I enjoin you to please do so and take advantage of the opportunity that democracy offers us.

“This time around, we must show the world that Edo people are knowledgeable and politically enlightened. No intimidation; don’t give yourself to any intimidation. Vote your values and vote your conscience.”
