• Gov holds Iftar with Muslims leaders, hails religious harmony

The 57-man campaign council for the re-election of Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has vowed to secure 500,000 votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the June 2026 governorship election.

The council also allayed fears that the outcome of the party’s primary to elect members of the state and the National Assembly would negatively affect the governorship election in the state.

Director-General of the campaign team and senator representing Ekiti North Senatorial District, Cyril Fasuyi, while speaking with newsmen yesterday in Ado-Ekiti against the backdrop of the previous election results, expressed optimism that the 2026 gubernatorial election would be different, considering the party’s game plan.

Meanwhile, Oyebanji has commended the Muslim community in the state for their unalloyed support for his administration as well as their commitment to peaceful coexistence with adherents of other faiths.

He said the support had been a major tonic driving development in the state.

He added hat peaceful coexistence among the citizens remains a viable platform upon which real development is built.

Oyebanji spoke during the Iftar (breaking of fast) with Muslim leaders across the 16 local councils of the state at the Jibowu Hall, Government House in Ado-Ekiti on Monday.

The governor, who also called for continued support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noted that the various achievements of his administration was made possible because of the support he received from the President, stressing that Tinubu has fulfilled all the promises he made to the state during the electioneering campaign in 2022.

However, the Imam of Ansar-Ud-Deen, Ado-Ekiti, Sheikh Abdullahi Abdulmutali, while presenting the Iftar lecture, called on Muslims to live their lives in the fear of God by doing what is right all the time, stressing that that is the only way they could receive heavenly reward.

Also, President-General, League of Imams and Alfas for South-West, Edo and Delta states, Sheikh Jamiu Kewulere Bello, who prayed for the state, the governor and Tinubu, hailed the two leaders for creating atmosphere of peace and shared prosperity.
