Ekiti APC, PDP optimistic of victory at tribunal tomorrow

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday, expressed confidence that the Ekiti Governorship Election Petition Tribunal judgment to be delivered tomorrow would favour them.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday, expressed confidence that the Ekiti Governorship Election Petition Tribunal judgment to be delivered tomorrow would favour them.

PDP candidate, Prof Kolapo Olusola had challenged the declaration of Dr. Kayode Fayemi governor elect. Fayemi polled 197,459 votes while Olusola got 178, 122 votes.

The 3-man panel hearing the petition that trailed the July 14 election, began sitting in Ado Ekiti, but relocated to High Court 17 Apo, FCT over security concern. The tribunal began sitting on Tuesday, September 25, 2018.

The petitioner’s lead counsel is Mallam Yusuf Ali (SAN), while the lead Counsel to APC is Chief Akin Olujimi (SAN) and that of Fayemi is Chief Lateef Fagbemi (SAN)Reacting on behalf of PDP in a telephone chat, the state Publicity Secretary, Mr. Jackson Adebayo said the party expects nothing but victory at the tribunal because of the unimpeachable evidence it provided to argued its case.

On his part, Chief Press Secretary to Fayemi, Yinka Oyebode said the party is positive that the judgment would favour it, as the election was a reflection of people’s will.
