Ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial poll, the National Headquarters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to contest for a second term in office.

Governor Yusuf secured the clearance of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC after submitting his nomination form and successfully scaling through the screening process held in Abuja.

The National Chairman of the party, Prof. Nantawe Yilwadda, who led the screening committee at the Plateau Governor’s Lodge, announced the party’s affirmation, revealing that Governor Yusuf satisfied all requirements to contest for a second term.

The chairman disclosed that Yusuf has been declared to run on the party’s platform in 2027 as the sole contender for the APC governorship ticket in Kano, having emerged unopposed.

Following the clearance, Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation to the leadership of the party for the confidence reposed in him to fly its flag in the next election.

He reaffirmed his commitment to delivering more dividends of democracy and sustaining policies that promote peace, economic growth, and inclusive development across Kano State.

The governor also called on party members and supporters to remain united and continue working together for the progress of the state and victory in 2027.

He was accompanied by top APC stakeholders from Kano, including Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Senator Kawu Sumaila, members of the House of Representatives, and other dignitaries.

He pledged to expand urban renewal projects across the state, with road construction, drainage expansion, and market modernisation receiving greater attention. He added that rural development would remain a major priority.

Yusuf also promised increased investment in feeder roads, water supply, healthcare centres, and schools in rural communities. He further pledged stronger support for agriculture and empowerment programmes for farmers and young people, noting that job creation and youth development would remain central to his administration’s agenda.

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to improving education and healthcare delivery across Kano State, stressing that unity, peace, and inclusive leadership remain key pillars of his administration.
