The newly inaugurated Cross River State chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mathew Achigbe, has extended an olive branch to the Minister of Niger Delta, Pastor Usani Usani and his supporters. He also appealed to members not to identify anyone as the state party leader, as the party is yet to choose one.

Achigbe said this at the weekend in Calabar, shortly after his arrival from attending his first National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party in Abuja. The chairman, who appealed to Pastor Usani and his supporters to return to the fold, said it would amount to suicide, if the minister decided to leave APC.

He said: “We have a large heart to accommodate and take care of ourselves. I will continue to appeal to him, because where will he go? He is a progressive, so I know he belongs in APC. The only appeal is that he should be more fatherly. As a leader, he should demonstrate that he has a large heart to accommodate others.” He also called on members to close ranks and support President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term bid and his commitment to what he described as liberation of suppressed Nigerians.
