Kaduna: KAD-SIECOM issues Certificates of Return to new LG chairmen

The Kaduna State Independent Election Commission (KAD-SIECOM) has officially presented Certificates of Return to 23 newly elected Chairmen of the All Progressive Congress (APC) following the recent local government elections in the state.

During the presentation at the Commission’s headquarters in Kaduna, KAD-SIECOM Chairman Hajia Hajara Mohammed said that the elections were conducted in accordance with the Kaduna State Electoral Law 2024.

She noted that this marked the sixth election held by the Commission since its establishment in 2000 and was particularly historic as it was the first instance where elected council members would hand over to another elected council.

“I feel highly delighted to be part of this remarkable occasion, a day of history where certificates of return are being issued to those who won the just concluded 2024 Local Government Councils Election,” Mohammed stated.

She congratulated the winners and reminded them of their responsibility to fulfill the mandate entrusted to them by the electorate.

Mohammed also acknowledged the efforts of the Commission’s staff, including the Permanent Electoral Commissioners and field officers, for their dedication and professionalism throughout the electoral process.

She noted the importance of conducting periodic elections, crediting the support of Kaduna State Governor Sen. Uba Sani in entrenching democracy in the state.

In response, Muhammad Lawal Shehu (MOLASH), the chairman-elect of Soba Local Government Area (LGA), expressed gratitude on behalf of the newly elected chairmen.

He reaffirmed their commitment to implementing their campaign manifestos and promised not to let the people down.

Shehu also commended the Governor and APC leadership for their support, stating that they would collaborate with the state government to further the development initiatives of Uba Sani’s administration at the grassroots level.
