The Kaduna chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that the state is prepared to host the flag-off of the second term in office Presidential campaign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu 2027 on October 24, 2026, under the leadership of Governor Uba Sani.
Addressing journalists at the APC 2027 Presidential Campaign Media Centre in Kaduna, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mohamed Sani Haruna, said the choice of Kaduna as host city is a demonstration of President Tinubu’s love and commitment to northern Nigeria.
Haruna extended gratitude to the President, describing him as the only Nigerian in living memory who has consistently shown support for northern aspirations to lead Nigeria both in action and spirit.
He recalled that Tinubu supported the Peoples Front led by late General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua which metamorphosed into the Social Democratic Party, SDP, in 1992, and backed Yar’Adua’s presidential ambition against late Chief Lateef Jakande in the SDP primaries.
The APC spokesman further stressed that Tinubu also supported northern presidential aspirants at different times, including Atiku Abubakar in 2007 when he provided his platform after Atiku was prevented from contesting, Nuhu Ribadu in 2011, and Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 when his political machinery helped Buhari achieve his long-sought presidency after three failed attempts.
“There is no other individual in history that has shown northern Nigeria such love, such passion, such commitment and such patriotism that Nigeria belongs to all and northern Nigerians deserve to lead Nigeria,” Haruna said.
He noted that throughout Buhari’s eight years in office, Tinubu never castigated or disparaged his administration, unlike many northerners.
According to him, it is therefore the turn of northerners to support Tinubu to continue as President.
Haruna also thanked the President for appointing Senator Abubakar AbdulAziz Yari as Director General of his campaign and for choosing Kaduna to host the flag-off, saying there is no better solidarity for the North than Kaduna, the former capital of Northern Nigeria and heartbeat of the region.
“Kaduna being the former capital of northern Nigeria encompasses the interests of every northern Nigerian living or dead. So anybody that chooses Kaduna is showing that love to the whole of northern Nigeria,” he said.
He said Kaduna is best suited for the declaration because the state is a miniature Nigeria where every tribe and geopolitical zone is represented, and now wears a new look under Governor Uba Sani.
“We are going to mobilize under the leadership of our governor, hundreds of thousands of people that are going to welcome Mr President. The promise by our governor that Kaduna will produce 2 million votes for the President is not just a mere saying. It is a fact,” he said.
Haruna claimed that for the first time in the history of the state, all 255 wards, 23 local government areas, 16 federal constituencies and three senatorial districts are controlled by APC, with no elective position held by the opposition, courtesy of Governor Sani’s inclusive leadership.
He said visitors on October 24 will meet a peaceful, united and harmonious state.
Responding to questions on how APC will avoid a repeat of 2023 when opposition candidate Atiku Abubakar won Kaduna despite APC being in power both at the centre and in the state, and when PDP won three senatorial seats, Haruna said the 2023 result was a referendum on the governing style of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
“We had a governor who demolished people’s houses, who sacked thousands, who demolished markets, who exploited fault lines of religion and tribal differences. People were not happy,” he said.
“But now we have a governor who has shown regard and respect to every strata in Kaduna, who has created a large pool where everybody is welcome irrespective of religion or tribe. Because people are happy with his style, we have no doubt every candidate of APC will be delivered.”
He insisted that the claim of no opposition in Kaduna now is not mere rhetoric but a fact on ground, as even Southern Kaduna which previously leaned towards PDP or Labour Party has now embraced APC due to Sani’s leadership.
The media centre, he said, will provide timely and accurate information on preparations for the flag-off.
“The march to Aso Rock in 2027 is going to begin from Kaduna on the 24th of October, 2026,” Haruna added.
