Ahead of the 2027 general elections in Kaduna, the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Yusuf Liman, has visited former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, to lure him to return to the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) and possibly to the Senate.

Besides, sources said that part of the reasons for the visit was to thank Senator Sani for his support and contributions during the recently concluded investigation into the alleged looting of the Kaduna State Treasury by the Erstwhile Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

The Kaduna State House of Assembly had set up a 13-member fact-finding committee to investigate financial transactions, loans, grants, and project executions under the eight-year administration of former governor El-Rufai who was indicted for allegedly embezzling N423billion from the State Treasury.

Specifically, the ad hoc committee, set up by the Assembly, carried out the investigations and submitted its report, indicting El-Rufai and some of his appointees.

Sani, who supported the steps taken to recover the looted funds, hailed the Kaduna State House of Assembly for probing El-Rufai’s administration from 2015-2023.

He commended the lawmakers’ courage and determination, stating that the people of Kaduna appreciated their efforts.

Meanwhile, sources further revealed that part of the reasons for the visit was to discuss realignment and appeal for his return to the APC to support Governor Uba Sani ahead of the 2027 general election.

Sani has recently resolved his political differences with Kaduna Governor Senator Uba Sani to work as a formidable force to develop Kaduna State.
