Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has declared that no interference will disrupt the local government election scheduled for tomorrow in Kano State.

Governor Yusuf also vowed that the government is prepared to swear in candidates declared winners by the electoral body.

He made this declaration yesterday while presenting New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) flags to 44 chairmanship candidates, reiterating a stance of “no retreat, no surrender” in the election.

The presentation, held at the main bowl of Sani Abacha Stadium, attracted a large crowd of supporters from the Kwankwasiyya movement.

Addressing party members, Governor Yusuf stressed that the state government would not allow any attempt to destabilise the peace currently enjoyed by Kano residents.

He said that both the state government and the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) have full constitutional backing to conduct the election.

A statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin, quoted Yusuf as saying, “No one will stop KANSIEC from holding the polls.”

The Governor urged NNPP members to return to their wards and prepare thoroughly for the election, describing them as the true supporters of the party.

He expressed confidence that the party would secure all 44 chairmanship seats and 484 councillorship positions, given the widespread support it enjoys in the state.

Acting National Chairman of NNPP, Dr. Audu Ajuji, expressed hope that the election would be peaceful, adding that the party is well-positioned to win all elective offices.

State NNPP Chairman, Hon. Hashim Sulaiman Dungurawa, described the event as extraordinary and affirmed that the party is here to stay beyond 2027.

He lauded the loyalty of the candidates and stressed that the people of Kano trust the NNPP for its honesty, rejecting corrupt opposition politicians.
