LG Polls: Alaba traders back Rufai’s candidacy in Ojo

Traders at Alaba International Market have endorsed All Progressive Congress (APC) aspirant Princess Muhibat Rufai for the Ojo Local Government Chairmanship seat.

Stakeholders in the Ojo Local Government Area (LGA), on Thursday, also reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to elect Hon. Rufai as their next Chairman, citing her proven integrity, competence, and philanthropic efforts.

The body announced plans to mobilise en masse on Saturday, July 12, to vote for their chosen candidate during the upcoming Lagos Chairmanship election.

The rally, which began from Electronics Garage and traversed the market, was marked by enthusiastic cheers and calls to support Rufai’s bid to become the 17th Chairman of Ojo.

President of the Alaba Council of Sectional Heads and the International Market Association, High Chief Dr. Camillus Nnamdi Amajuoyi Uzochukwuwara, emphasised the importance of voting for leaders who deliver on their promises.

“We are aligning with the ruling party to foster development and for better infrastructure and governance.

“The Ojo community in Lagos State is governed by the APC, and we have built businesses here. We have witnessed the devastating consequences of neglected infrastructure. Our roads, which are critical arteries for our community’s survival, are in a deplorable state, causing significant damage to traders’ goods and tragically resulting in several accidents and injuries. This has led to substantial economic losses.

“Past promises from other parties have gone unfulfilled, leaving our community in hardship. However, we are confident that Hon. Muhibat Rufai is the right leader to address this crisis. Her proposed plans to carry out asphalt repairs on our roads, drainage improvements to ensure safer roads, reducing economic losses, and improving the quality of life for all will impact the community positively.

“We are not under pressure but have made this decision based on her clear vision and commitment to our community. We urge all residents of Ojo to join us in supporting Hon. Muhibat Rufai and demanding the infrastructure improvements we deserve.” Uzochukwuwara said.

Party members, community and religious leaders, NURTW members, and other stakeholders expressed confidence that Hon. Rufai’s leadership would pave the way for sustainable growth and inclusive governance if elected.
