The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has constituted a 17-member screening committee to oversee the screening of aspirants seeking the party’s presidential, governorship, senatorial and House of Representatives tickets ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued by the party’s National Secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, the committee is scheduled for inauguration at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

According to the statement, former Ebonyi State Governor and ex-senator, Sam Egwu, will serve as chairman of the committee, while the party’s National Legal Adviser, Reuben Egwuaba, will act as secretary.

The party described the committee as a blend of experienced politicians, professionals, party leaders, and members of the National Working Committee assembled to ensure a credible and transparent screening process for aspirants contesting various elective positions.

Other members of the committee include the NDC Deputy Chairman, Babatunde Ali; veteran politician Buba Galadima; Mohammed Sani Takori; Daniel Onifade; veteran journalist Ikeddy Isiguzo; and former All Progressives Congress chairman in Ogun State, Wole Adedayo.

Also named on the committee are Osusu Osusu, Asukewe Ikoawaji, political scientist Udenta Udenta, Frederick E. Owotorufa, Hannatu Tanko, Dogo Shammar, former Anambra State governorship candidate Henry Obaze, Clement Agiagie, and Fatima Musa Abba.
