The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the 2027 election, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, and a chieftain of the party, Folake Marcus-Bello, have urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola, to promptly file a lawsuit against them over their claim that he is not an indigene of the state.

Recalled that Adeola had through his Media Adviser, Chief Kayode Odunaro threatened to file a legal proceedings against suspended APC’s gubernatorial, Abayomi Hunye and Marcus-Bello over their claims that he was not an indigene of Ogun, but Ekiti State.

However, while reacting to the legal threat yesterday during a campaign rally in Odogbolu Local Local Council of the state, Adebutu asked Adeola, the Senator representing Ogunwest senatorial district to join him in legal the suite for calling him “fake indigene of Ogun State.”

The PDP governorship candidate said he had enough evidence to establish his claim that Adeola is not an indigene of the state, noting that APC was becoming apprehensive over the growing strength of the opposition party ahead the 2027 elections.

“It is however sad that the APC governorship candidate, Sen Adeola commonly called Yayi is threatening to sue people because they said that he is from Ekiti State. Did he think that these people were talking about what is not real? I am daring their lawyers to sue me because the truth is that Yayi is fake indigene of Ogun State.”

“I am waiting for their lawyer to also sue me so that we can go and present all our documents in the court of law. They first claimed that they are from Joga, later they said Ishaga, Ilaro and all that… I am waiting for their lawyer to write me so that we can show the whole world the truth.” he noted

Adebutu also alleged that the ruling party was intolerant of opposition activities, claiming that PDP billboards had been barred from being erected across the state, while posters belonging to the party were being torn down and vandalised.

“The truth is that APC is already jittery, they are in panic mode because they are well aware that the next government in power in the state come 2027 will be the PDP. They said we can’t have our billboards erected and now they are defacing and removing our posters, why are they afraid?” he added.

The PDP Governorship Candidate also accused Adeola of diverting projects from other states to Ogun, noting that his claim that the senator was not an indigene of the state was not politically motivated but true, inorder to protect the future of the state beyond 2027 elections.

“The senator is also neck deep in project diversion. He is bringing projects for Enugu, Katsina and others to Ogun State, that is nothing but maladministration. Let us ask them who is Mr Augustine, they should tell us who is Mr Augustine.

“What I am saying here today is nothing personal but about protecting the future of our dear state. The hardship and bad governance must not be tolerated beyond 2027.”

Reacting to the threat of legal action, Marcus-Bello urged the people of the state not to be distracted by Adeola’s comments, insisting that she stood by her claim that the senator is not an indigene of Ogun State, adding that she would make further revelations on the matter in due course.

She, however, urged the people of the state to get set for what she described as a new dawn of good governance, development and accountability, adding that an incoming PDP government was ready to restore the lost glory of the state.

Efforts to obtain Adeola’s reaction were unsuccessful, as calls to his media aide, Odunaro, were not picked and he never responded to messages sent via WhatsApp as of the time of filing this report.
